ok hears my thoughts, shell off an ear of corn and see how big the cob is. use your metric box end wrench. if you take a 32mm wrench does the cob fit tightIJ or is it looseIJIJ now we have 20 in. rows and my corn is bit smaller but my cobs were on the ave 26 to 28mm. thats where i set my concave, then run the sep fast enough to shell and sep w_out damage. that wide of spacing, sounds like the cobs are gettin broke up more than they shouldIJ can you get some whole cobs if you do a power shut downIJ or busted in half chunksIJ just a thought. as far as the fines, is your corn healthyIJ or is there some bug damageIJ

We've done power shut downs. One example is, dirty sample(cobs and fines),we do the shut down take the covers of the rotor and find the odd cob still with kernals on it at the very back of the seperator grates. So that tells us we're pushing the limit of concave clearance. My personal observation is that the unadjustable precleaner is the complete problem, it's so far open any thing can fall through it. Is there anything I can do to adjust it or something. It's just really annoying.

ok, let me ask this. how big of head, and what ground speed ya running. and this is just me saying this, more comments are welcome from others, but if your happy w_ the speed your running, and still find the odd cob w_ corn on it, then i'd drop concave in 2mm jumps till ya don't see it. i'm sure your running at least 5 mphIJ i run a 9750 w_ a 12 row 20inch head. corn this yr was 150 to 200. most of the time was at 26 to 28mm, 300 to 370, and ran 5 to 6.5 mph. as far as the precleaner, you can order one from deere, or from lowen. try pushing your ground speed some. some hybrids are a pain in the a--. nk43M9 gave me fits this yr. just did not want to come off the cob. and then took in alot of trash. leaves, and tops.

MOST PEOPlE IN OUR AREA ARE RUNNING 38-50 ON CONCAVE AND ClEAR UP TO 500 ON ROTOR. TRY OPENING IT UP AND SPEEDING IT UP.
