Combines 9660 STS vs Case 2388

As far as the guts of the machines are concerned, they are pretty close the same. The STS is heavier, has a bigger hopper, fuel tank, and unloading auger, and has more horse power. Has a better cab in my opinion too.

In my opinion the 2388 is like a chrysler 300 C, a great car for sure... mabee one of the best. But a 9660 would be more like a Rolls-Royce. Smooth as silk, unmatched in quality and looks great.

I thought the 3.3 was only for the 97 and 9860s. If I`m not mistaken the 9660 is still 2.2 bu_sec.. Still more than 1.9 though.

local farmer here traded in 4 9650's STS's for 4 2388's. First red equipment ever and he loves them. Deere rotarys had to much downtime, and repair expense.

Do Yourself a HUGE favor, go with the 2388!!!! We run all green tractors and used to green combines. In 2001 We traded for a 2388 with specialty rotor. Was the least amount of downtime We ever had. last winter We traded for a 9660STS, was the worst mistake of My life. The soybean threashing speed and capacity was great 5.0-5.2 MPH, but the electrical problems as well as all of the others were not worth it. Hope this helps.

Ran 9760sts this season, last season ran 2388 afx and was red since 1978. The sts servicability is equal to afx. The capacity of the sts vs. the afx that was turned up was better. We ran 1 to 1.5 mph faster in 200 bu. corn with the sts. We ran 1 mph faster in soybeans with the sts and the 35' head vs. the afx and the 30'. The fuel consumption difference was not noticable especially if you take into account the extra acres covered in a day. As far as machine loss and quality of grain the sts is equal or better. The electic sieves and the sieve loss guages were very helpful in tweaking the machine. The high rate unloading auger is worth the money and then some. As far as breakdowns we had a few, but we did with red also. I believe there are lemons in every color. My neighbor's new 2388 afx is case in point. He had something go wrong almost every day. Who knows our next sts. may be a lemon.

I would hope the 9760 outperformed the 2388 since it is a much bigger combine. You should keep in mind that the STS has 60 more horsepower (93 hp with the power boost) than the AFX.
