ran a 9660wts beside 9600,they are basically the same machine.wts was able to handle more material.not much difference in canola.sun is shine here in manitoba.gotta go
I think you can see it from my point of view but choose not to! All joking aside, I still run a newer Old Walker Machine right along with the STS's, love them both and have never had to change any walkers or had any trouble with the STS's, only thing is OWM has to run in the back of the pack because he just can't eat fast enough and save the grain as well! But maybe the new improvement might help and if it doesn't the OWM produced by Deere will still be the most popular combine ever produced! I have to get some sleep now so I can get up early and grease those STRAW WAlKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure, but I think the 9660WTS has six walkers again, similar to the older 8820s. These are probably narrower (10" wide)instead of the five x 12" wide walkers used on 9550s. More narrow walkers and the agitator should help reduce walker grain loss.
FarmBuddy, You are correct. From the deere site: "That popularity, says Maes, is due in large part to the unique Power Separator. Sitting near the top of the 6, 11-step walkers, the Power Separator constantly combs the crop mat, allowing trapped grain to fall through to the cleaning shoe."
Saw a WTS at dealers a couple days ago. They have six walkers and wood blocks (or nylon, couldn't tell for the green paint) so you won't have to grease the darn things anymore. The original 9600 in 1989 had wood blocks. Only took them 17 years to figure it out.
Im running a 9600 and 9650 walker and both I had to remove the two curtains over the walkers because they were doing too good a job seperating and putting too much broken straw back over the screens. I dont run choppers which makes straw diagnosis a snap. Maybe the newer WTS is less aggressive per walker, Not sure about that extra beater. Just another set of vanes and bearings. YUK.
You mean to tell me they expect to sell these combines just because they added this power seperator on top of the walkersIJ A lot of money for one change! Would be a lot cheaper if I just made one myself and installed it. Claas combines in Europe have had this feature for decades. lots of copying happening from all the goodies the European combines have had for eons, hoping to make more sales here in NA.
