I bought a 25ft. swather last fall with a 972 header, swathed both edibles and soybeans, both crops were solid seeded, in the edibles I ran the header in the retracted float position and regular guards with extended 1 1_2 inch by 6 inch flat iron welded on the tops to comb up the vines, had less than 100 lbs of loss and some times hardly a bean on the ground, crop averaged 2200 lbs of navys, only problem was with the guards and sickles running a ground level they will find all pinpong sized stones and the odd old lost crescent wrench or pliers, other than that it was just lower onto the ground and drive, the float works great with the plastic on the bottom of header. In soybeans it worked great, there you have to carry the head and run just above the leafs, did some custom swathing where some were laying down and the reel with the extra bat worked great. The flat irons had to come off when we got into the laying down vines that were wet. The swather unit is just a pleasure to drive. I farm in southern Manitoba where we grow wheat, oats, canola, flax, peas, corn, edible beans and have started growing soybeans.
