The 9750 has one belt driving the alternator, fan, air conditiong compressor. If it goes bad all stop turning, a good chance the engine will overheat. The engine, as it overheats, will derate to lower the horsepower so as not to ruin it. With a chip in it cannot derate and will probably ruin itself. My compressor piled up at 467 engine hours, threw the belt off. luckily I caught the temperature rise before it did any harm. No more chip!
