Combines 9750STS people should rethink

We run 8 9650sts in 250bu an acre corn without the chip you are pushing the rpm down all the time. With the chip you gain 30 to 40% more hourse power. This allows us to keep machine running to capabilities at all times. We never have any problems with the engine's. We can get all the 9750sts options on a 9650sts and we have been doing this for the last 3 years.

I would like to see how long a combine with a 450bu grain tank would last if a guy filled it all the time.

last year we went from 6 9650sts 2 wd w_o choppers to 5 9750's w_ 4 wd and choppers. The 9650's seemed to have more power. We also traded our 8410 for an 8420 and it has less power and needed a new transmission after 240 hours. The transmision locked up going down the road wide open. Deere is aware of the problem as we were working closely with RandD down in Mississippi last fall. They gave us a kit to bump up the fuel pressure which helped some but did not solve the problem. Were on the list for four 9880's so hopefully they will have the problem fixed by the time we get them.

There is a fix for the low power complaints on 9650's and 8020 tractors. I'm a Deere dealership tech and just attended a 8020 tractor service school. The problem is in the mapping of the engine control unit. The torque curve on some engines has a flat spot or dip near the top of the curve. Not every operator will even notice it depending on the load they have placed on the engine. The dealers will down load a new engine controler program from Deere web and upload it into the machines engine controler with the serviceADVISOR lap top. The update should be out later this winter.

I was aware of the torque curve problem. They kept telling us one more week and they would have a PIP for us. It's been over 3 months now.

J.B. 9880, Running that many machines and hoping to upgrade to the new 9880's I am guessing that you are a custom harvester and am curious to know if you are looking for employees. I have some buddies that are looking to join the custom run this summer and wondered if you have any positions available. Feel free to email me at kevin_p_brown@hotmail.com to discuss this further. Thanks

I live in Ingersoll now. Used to farm outside of Chatham. Got to Ridgetown College now. This farm was some where between Ingersoll and Tillsonburg on Culloden some where. Was a few years back. The guy who works a small field behind my place has a 7020 Deere 4wd. Don't think that's you thought. Take care.
