I think you would be limited by the trucks. If you calculate the amount you could haul and dump per day, I bet either combine would be able to keep up.

a guy around here that just bought a 9860 got a 12 head and 35ft bean head to replace 2 red ones.Corn was around 140 in this area .He shelled 23 semi loads in a 13hour day and hauled it away,When they were trying real hard and timing it they could shell a semi load every 17 min. but we dont have good enough corn to get big stories down here. So if you could dump and be back in 30 min, from the time you left you would need alot of trucks IG

We have three years experience with a 9860, and have been very happy with its capacity. The combine has a little over 1100 hours, and we have averaged almost 4000 acres per year, with a high of 4300. Our location and conditions are identical to yours, and have no problem thinking a hard pusher could get close to 5000 a year. By the way, we replaced two 9600's with this machine, and although they could do a little more per day, there is a lot less headache running one combine.

In corn, I think you would be limited by the trucks with either machine. I assume you will have trucks at both ends of the fieldIJ I would think 2 semi's for each cart would be a bare minimum. You could estimate the bu and acres per day based on what you could haul. As for the beans, how fast can you run on your groundIJ Maybe average about 5 mphIJ That would be about 21 acres per hour. I'm not sure if an 9860 would be required for thatIJ

Thank you DaveH for your response...that was the type of information I was seeking. I guess I should have been more specific.

My bad, corn and soybeans rightIJ Just seems like a lot of hours for that many acres.

I run a 9660 STS Bullet Rotor with a 12R20 head (20 Foot Header) and when combining 200 bushel irrigated corn I combined 24,000 bushels in 10 hrs and had to wait a little a couple of times for trucks to get back or maybe I could have done another load before the elevator closed.
