Hi Pete. What does your dealer say is happeningIJ How many hours do you have on your 9760IJ

It started about 8:30 last night, so I haven't called the dealer yet. Second day in the field-cut 240 acres. To add insult to injury, plugged the data card in the computer at home last night and it has no data stored on it. I mapped with my 9650 STS for three years and 14000 acres, so it isn't like I haven't done it before! Harvest Doc said it was recording both days sooooo IJ

I would check your ground cable from the batteries. Had same scenario in a 9550 last fall, the cable was corroding from the inside out just off the battery, with only400 hrs. Not familar with the mapping or greenstar at all, but if that happens to be the problem..it might have erased everythingIJ...Just a guess. Dave

you need to change your fuel filters or if the machine is brand new check the fuel line coming out of the tank to see if it is plugged with plastic shavings from when the tank was made. did you set up all your farms and fields in JD office and save them to your pc data card before you started harvestingIJ

Funny you bring up the fuel filter issue. I was talking to our fuel supplier today and he said that several of his customers that are running NEW JD tractors and combines , as well as Catepillar custruction equipement are having alot of fuel related problems this year. When they investigated the problem they found that Deere has gone to a much finer fuel filter( I think he said 3 micronIJIJIJ) Typically the fuel filters are much coarser then this ( the filters they use on bulk fuel tanks are 30 micron!). What was happening is that the new filters are plugging up much faster , this is causing back pressure in the fuel systems and the fuel is actually boiling in the lines, the result the tractors_combines are running fine one minute and stall out the next. Some guys have found that just going to a coarser filter has solved all their problems. The guy good be blowing smoke but he's always been honest with us in the past so I see no reason to doubt him, he says any of the older deeres are running just fine with the same fuel.

I would caution anyone who would put a courser fuel filter on a newer machine. the injectors are $800 or more on some of the engines. the finer filters protect the injectors... Deere has had fuel system and filter mods in the past couple of years, and part of it was the filters were too course and the particals in the fuel wear out the injectors. I would just put better filters on the bulk tanks!

Agree Joe, the TierII emissions standards have put a greater stress on making the fuel burn completely, therefore one of the changes has been to fine tune the injectors. One small wear point and things start to go to hell in a hurry. On the early TierII engines, Deere did not put a good enough filtration system on, using just one small filter and no prefilter. The result was that the pressure was breaking the filter apart and letting the filter media into the fuel system. This really caused some problems. The change was to a two stage filtration system with a finer filter for the final stage. You have got to make sure the fuel in the bulk tank is filtered better.

luke, you were exactly right. The line was plugged with plastic shavings that didn't make it to the sediment bowl screen. Have power to spare now. Yes, I had all info loaded. The card was not making good contact with the processor. I did get a map of the last 50 acres of winter wheat, so should be set for spring wheat. Thanks.
