I'm not 100% sure of this, but it seems I remember reading about hydro noise the year they separated the pump from the drive unit - prior models were piggybacked. The Series V's have the pump located back by the engine - perhaps they have eliminated the noise now.

Do you have RWAIJ I always run my 1998 R 72 with the RWA turned on.This will make the hydro noise quieter. It will not elimate it but it is quieter.

Shouldn't be as bad as you describe. Check large high pressure hoses between hydro pump and hydro motor. Make sure they are not rubbing on anything inbetween. Isolate any rubbing by repositioning hose or insulate direct contact with thick foam rubber or cloth ect. Also check hoses that run up to reel speed valve to be sure nothing is rubbing on fully isolated cab. Any high pitch wineing hose rubbing on some area of fully isolated cab area will cause lots of noise ing cab. Hope you can find something.

I have a 98 R52 and the hydro noise is terrible also. Pulled hydro and motor and took it to a Sunstrand Authorized Service Center to have checked out, nothing wrong with the unit. That series of Sunstrand units are noisy. I understand the new R55 still has the hydro pump under the cab and not back by the motor like the 65 and 75.
