in my area the 04 8010 out sold the 9860 4 to 1 . the 9760 out sold the 8010 10 to 4. but in 05 3 of the 8010 have been traded off, 2 for cat's 1 for 9760. in my area the 9860 just dosn't sell, for 15,000.00 more just for hp, the 9760 has worked just fine even in the rice fields. but we run stripper heads in rice, 30' flex in beans.

in my area in 04 case dealer sold 3 8010's. jd dealer sold 1 9860. in 05 so far 0 8010's 0 9860's. two of the 04 8010's were traded off, one for cat and one for 9760sts. as for price diferance the 9860 was 15,000.00 higher. as for in the field diferance , havn't cut with a 9860 but cut a lot with a 9760. our dealer orders 9760's equiped the same as 9860's just differant moter, and 14,000.00 cheaper. the 9760 was very comparable to the 8010 but a lot more reliable, a lot less waistful, and a lot easier to set. i'm not bashing red binders at all, had 7 differant red binders befor the 8010, all good machines, but the 8010 will stick in my krowl for a long time. looking forward to the 05 wheat harvest so we can run that 9760.

Newguy: Should we stay out of this conversation....I think I would be a little biased as we run STS's machines...no 98's as I think they are a bit of a propaganda tool...but I do think the 97's are a good machine...as are the 88's.

Well, Ill give it a try.......Though I doubt will please anyone..... My partner ran a 2388 for the last 5 years.....Just bought a new 05 that has not been delivered yet......The big decision was between a used 8010 with 300 rotor hrs and a new 2388.....both were for the same money......The used 8010 was in a shed 40 miles from us.....This guy had 2 8010, one 9610(jd),2 2388's-----one a year old with 0 hrs on it.....btw he farms around 5500 acres (OVERKIll) but just my oppinion.....this guy has no shop as he believes in the local dealers should do all mech work. Anyway my partner is 64 and knows a 2388 like the back of his hand.....cant blame a guy for getting what he wants......it is kind of our n2 machine..... Our n1 machine is a lexion.....its funny how salesman of red and green show you new features on the 8010 and sts that lexion had on their machine over 7 years ago......... Sorry to not answer "8010 vs 9860". my oppinion is they are both good machines....the 8010 might need a year or two to "get the bugs out" just like the sts did when first introduced......If you can find some archives of the magazine farm show.....I remember many custom cutters not pleased at all the first years of the sts.....but its common to have "glitches" the first year...... As far as capacity, my unscientific oppinion is a lexion 590 will smoke em all....Just knowing what our 290hp lex. can do with 30' head in 200 bu corn.....One has to realize lexion makes machines 3 sizes larger than ours.....Unlike deere Hp., grain tank, unload auger, are not the only changes as you clime the class size with lexion. Good luck fella's.......(let the games begin) :^)

He has sold 1 8010, and the 03 2388 he bought thinking he could make money becouse he bought it so cheap......One of those guys who traded all his green equipment for red then back to green, thinking he'd make money.....maybe he didIJ Good luck
