Combines 9880 STS anyone seen it in actionIJ

The European version of the 9750sts is called a 9850sts. The primary differences between the two models is the 12.5l engine in the 9880, thus, larger drivetrain for main counter shaft, rotor, chopper, etc. Keep in mind that the 9880 is still the same size machine as the 9750 (threshing, separation, cleaing all remain unchanged, just more power). Therefore, the sieves box is still the same size as the 9510's. So, it's your call as to the advantages of 430hp in such a small machine - twist the heck out of shafts_drivesIJ Even with less horsepower, the lexion still has more capacity and productivity with multi-crop capability without expensive attachements being sought. Most likely, the chopper_spreader combo on the 9880 will consume any value provided from the additional displacement_power, especially in the higher moisture crops harvested in Europe. While harvesting rice this year, I rode on our neighbors 9750sts, I have never heard sounds like that come from a combine in my life. The CTS is cleary the advantage over the sts, atleast in small grains, no matter how much horsepower less it has. The sts sounded like it was about to fly apart.

Your neighbour may have one, but until you spend at least 50 hours on a sts and a cts, you will see that the sts is ClEARlY way ahead of a cts. Your judgement seems a little shallow

Know of a 9650CTS Harvesting a 22 bag (approx 60 -65 bushells) crop in S NSW Aust last year. Crop was down slightly so was taking a lot of staw as well. limiting factor on this particualar machine was the the slip clutch on the table auger kept going off because of the speed and amount he was able to push through it. Obviously this machine was pretty hot, but the principle seperating mechanism remains. You've got to give it too the Deere's, when you can work out the tricks, they'll go. I have seen these guys harvesting in person and even in a 40 - 50 bushell crop, limiting factor was the ground speed. (Aust spec deere's come out with a 9mph 2nd gear.) These guys keep a lot of there tricks to themselves, but they did help me a bit, even with a 9500. It can be done. After all the troubles I'm hearing with the STS's I think I'll be looking CTS II or '50 series, if I stay with the deere.
