What type of concave bars are you runningIJ I changed from channels to the half rounds for corn and cracking was much less and I could increase speed. (K gleaner)

We used to have an A2 and in corn we put filler bars in the cylinder and that really helped a lot. We ran a A330 cornhead but had to run as slow as the machine would go in real heavy corn. But you should be able to run about half speed or more in decent corn with a 2 row.

You need to keep in mind that corn yields were a whole lot different back when that A2 was made compared to modern day yields. A four row head back then is compared to a 2 row today, if not less. Tom langan

That may be the reason 2yrs ago corn yield was around 175 last year we just had beans. However with 14ft grain head it does real well in 50 to 60 bu wheat.

I run three half rounds in positions 2, 4, and 6. Door is n1 position, no concave there. I don't run filler bars either.

What moisture are you shelling atIJ Gleaners are somewhat more sensitive to higher moistures than some other machines. Our F does not like anything over 25%, just like hitting a wall. K2 does fine up to about 30-32%. If you are dry, under 18%, set cylinder at 5_8" clearance, rpm's at 480-520, chaffer @ 9_16" and seive @ 1_2" , adjust as required for sample and field losses. That machine with 2 40's should never even slow down in low gear.
