This engine comes from the 354 series family and much is made from the same base parts. This engine is definitely an older build and is very dependable. Some of the things that they added to the turbocharged engine as well as the turbo include: piston cooling jets in the base, engine oil cooler and different injection calibration. I suggest doing a thorough tune up (provided the engine is working not bad). Adjust the valves, Set the injectors(replacing any poor tips) and check the lift pump pressure and injection timing. This can make a world of difference. Still want more powerIJ Boost the max fuel setting in the injection pump and advance the timing slightly to help burn the extra fuel (too much smoke is waste). larger injector nozzles may be available(by spec) to experiment with as well. Keep filters as clean as possible, possibly adding a good precleaner. Also make sure the rear beater speed is correct as this will affect governor performance.
