Combines About Drago corn heads

Drago heads will seem to run slow and ground speed I'm told will be limited to about 5 mph. That slower speed is from the larger snapping rolls and the idea behind the head is to pull the stalk down slower so the ears do not hit as hard and shell corn at the header. If you speed up the header, you may undo what the head is designed to do. I do like the automatic adjusting plates as long as they work like they say they do. If you have used yours, do the plates move in and out free enough to let the stalk in or will the plates push a stalk forward once in awhileIJ Also, what happens when your a little off the row to one side or the other. Do the plates still work OKIJ

i run a pc model gerringhoff and had the same trouble if i only ran up to 3 mph i wouldnt shred the feeder house drive belts then i found out that if the corn heads main shaft isnt turning fast enough it will increase the power consumption almost exponentially now i can run 4-4.5mph (6row) but its still not the 5.5mph i used to run with my 8 row allis n series head but i guess your still accomplishing 2 jobs at once august wieser rosholt, sd
