Combines accelater rolls chokeing up

wet milo is something that drives all machines buggy. Are you sure the fingers are all in the distribution augers _ accelerator luggs goodIJ are the rolls choking or is the material bridging above the distrubution augerIJ

Tbran thanks for the reply we are new to the rotary machines but the rolls seem to se alright. When we cleaned it out we had to clean between the rolls and turn the shaft with a wrench to get it working again. Might the belt that drives the rolls be slippingIJ thanks marv _

I had the double belt set on my combine start to slip and it slowed down the accelerator rolls which slowed down dist. augers and both elevator chains. It would never plug completly and you would have to stop and let machine clean out. the belts didn't look that bad but they were slipping. Replacing the belts solved the problem

Thanks R7 I think you are right about the belts ours are in bad shape but have less 20 acres to finish, will try to complete it this afternoon. thanks marv.

R7 you should look at the sheve on main clutch shaft. look for paint worn off or polished steel in bottom of sheve groove. those sheves pulled a lot on N7 R7 R70. My R7 did the same thing, milo was a real load on everything. Replacing belts will help for a while but with the edges of sheve worn really bad they will work down in groove and start to slip after a little wear sets in. Another thing we did to N7 R7 was replace idler pulley on same belt with larger diameter pulley. That would put less backward bend in belt reducing splitting and streach spring just a bit.

It takes about 1 hour to put belts on.Not to bad of a job if you figure out the shortcuts.I checked the pulleys on mine and they are worn and I will probably do that this winter. I like the idea of a larger idler as those belts sure seem to crack faster than any others.Happy harvesting
