We did the same thing with our M2, bought a RWA off an l3 and it went right in and worked fine. The l3 unit is about 10" wider than the M2 unit would be, but it worked fine on ours because we had 30.5's in the front and was still inside the track width. I dont think a RWA from an M would be wide enough for an l3, the tape measure would be the judge and take into consideration the wheels closing in on the seive when turned. Get all hoses etc when buying the unit off the salvage machine, the only thing electrical you will need will be a switched hot wire to turn on the unit once plumbed and full of fluid. On a used unit check the camber, one that has never been greased will look like the back of a broken down japanese car, will likely need new bushing packs to rebuild, not hard to do but figure a couple hundred in parts off the price of the unit.

I did it a few years ago and it was the simplest thing I've done in years. Send me an email and I'll try and fill you in on the details.
