The non-adjustable precleaner is set way too far open for small grains. (I have no experience with corn). Because it is so far open, there is not enough air under it to keep the chaff (MOG) suspended. All this excess chaff ends up falling onto the sieve and overloading it, thereby increasing the returns. The precleaner should not be open any farther than the chaffer. Having the precleaner less open also keeps the chaff more suspended when it reaches the chaffer, allowing it to operate more efficiently also.
