Combines Adjusting Snapping Rolls on 438

One thing I have found is very important is having the plates above the rolls set with the front about 1_4" closer than the rear. The space between the plates must open up as the stalk moves back or it will plug. I don't know the overall distance apart, that may vary with the stalk and ear size.

MRT, On each side of the stripper plate there should be a clip that holds the head of a capscrew. To adjust the stripper plate, flip the clip up and screw the bolt in to narrow stripper plate and out to widen.Normally when corn is in the 125-150bu. range, set the front at 1" and the back at 1 1_8".Also check the snapping point to point dimension, should be 3 5_8".Also make sure stripper plates are centered over snapping rolls.Sometimes I will set the outer row on each end so the stalk is pushed slightly inward to help save ears from going over outer divider. Good luck, Hyper Harvest II
