Hello there I have a Tr-85 what is in very good condition it has around 2000 engine hours. It has a dummy head with a belt pickup attatchment and I also have a 22' direct cut head for it. I am asking 13000 for the whole package. That would still allow you plenty of money for a corn head and you could do it all way under your budget. Feel free to contact Shawn @ 307-851-1680 if you would be interested or have any other questions..

Put your money into a term deposit or shares!! Save yourself a lot of grief and heartache and just get a custom-harvester. You will all the latest technology.... ie yeild maps, moister maps, etc and the job will be done in 2 days max, saving any losses from weather and all for the cost of a couple of belts_bearings. Yes a 6620_7720,TR85, IH1460,IH1660, etc will all do the job, but most of these machines are black holes for money. Most are up to or over 20 years old, most will have 3000 plus hrs on them and as such most will require a higher level of maintainance then what a newer machine would. And for such a small area to harvest your going to loose a lot of money for the privilage of having an extra peice of machinery in the shed to worry about.

The prior comment about putting your money into an investment is sensible enough on the face of it but there is more to the equation. You don't have to spend 25,000 to get a decent outfit for the acres you have. I bought a nice 7720 with 2300 hrs for 13,000 the grain heads are cheap a 200 series platform will run you about 2-3000 at the most. A cornhead depending on the number of rows will cost between 2000-4000 for the acres you want to run it on. You could spend less if you're patient. Every situation is different. Having your own machine allows you to harvest on your schedule, not someone elses. It's pretty hard to sit and wait when the weather is nice and your operator is getting his crop taken care of while you watch. You can depreciate the expense, knowing if you hire an operator it will cost you at least 6000.00 per harvest season. You have to be the judge.. If you have access to a relible custom operator you don't have the maintenance responsiblity, but you also don't have control of your crop harvest. You have enough acreage to justify a clean older machine. They are getting scarcer but they are out there. I would make the brand decision based on dealership support. I like my 7720 but I would be very satisfied with a nice 1440 or 1460 if I had a dealer nearby. Good luck..
