Combines AFS logging issue

This system needs to see elevator speed below 599 rpm; information from the flow sensor in the top of the elevator; wheel speed above .5 mph; head below stop height and card installed to record data. Did you by chance change the elevator chain adjustment at the top of the clean grain elevator. If so then the gap between the deflector and elevator paddle has changed and my be affecting how the oats hit the sensor, especially if you are light tw. Gap ahould be about 3_8 of and inch and will affect calibration. Might also want to check you trade weight setting and make sure it is ok. Sounds like you could sitll have a loose wire somewhere. Is mositure changing going thru the fieldIJ

Thanks for the reply. The elevator speed was 401 and all the other criteria were as they should be. Everything was changing as I went through the field, except the averages, I guess because it wasn't logging. It could have been the oats, I have combined 200 acres of wheat since then and never had the problem re-occur. We actually had to adjust the elevator head this year to correct the calibration, that was back in June and it has been pretty much right on since then. Oh...and the error message was "crop flow DETECTED" not undetected as I had posted originally. We will be doing oats again tomorrow (as long as it doesn't rain again),so we'll see if it happens again.

If crop flow was detected then the strain guage measured the oats flow. Might double check and make sure the header is below the stop height. Also remember that the pot on the right side of the feeder house controls AFS, the one on the left is for the a-post and header controller.

OK, today we were in oats again and the same error message came up with the alarm. I noticed my average rate on the monitor was at 0.0 ac_hr. When I lowered my pickup header to 18, it started to show 14.5(or whatever)ac_hr. I figured the cut off height was askew, so I went into the setup and changed it to 45. The problem never went away, everytime I was over 20 on the indicator, the alarm went off. I just kept it under 20 to finish the day...

Sounds like an issue with the feeder pot on the right hand side. I am assuming that when you went to setup you were in the header setup on the yeild monitor rather than the a-post. Its been a while sice I worked with this system in class and I don't remember the procedure to set the stop height in the yield monitor and it depends on which firmware version you are running. I will try and check later today and post additional info.

Yes it was on the YM and ProHarvest updated the monitor to the latest revision in May. It seems bizarre that it would work fine in everything but oats, but as long as I can work around it..."shut up and drive" ;p

Without being there in person and with the machine I am all out of ideas for now. I have classes going now but will try and dig out my AFS stuff and see if I have missed anything. I suspect is something simple that I have overlooked. Hope the rest of you harvest goes well. besthornb@bartonccc.edu
