better be prepared to up the horsepower by 25% too.. That is you limit now, not the rotor.

Funny, but if the 1680-2188 had a 25% increase in capacity they would match the newly announced machines. The capacity increase is ONlY in certain tough conditions like beans wrapping. They delayed the introduction by a year because the rotor wasn't thrashing corn very well. It only comes in a specialty rotor type . Maybe Gordon can make some rasp bars to make it work.

From what i've heard the new AFX rotor allows at least a 10% improvement with the same horsepower, it can be up to 25% in damp or green stemmed crops. This info is from people that have used it in wheat and barley. The improvement seems to come from the better feeding at the front of the rotor and an even distribution of crop around the rotor, it also has lead to an improvement in straw quality so making baling easier as now the elephant ears have gone which used to cause most of the straw breakage. This could improve the performance and sample quality when harvesting Canola etc.

I don't think it takes any more power. I was on a crew this summer and combine that had the AFX in it would run faster than the other machines with standard and speciality rotors in them. Definitly quieter, no rumble at all, but I never ran it in the heavier wheat in TX, just the lesser wheat from OK and north
