I think that it would be an alright tractor and the cabs on those are very nice. The only bad part about these tractors is that there are not that many made so finding parts is hard to do. We bought a 9190 back in 1989 and we have a hard time getting any parts for it brecause there is not that many sold. But if you get it cheap enough it should be a good buy. If you have more Questions email me!

That Detroit....well it is a 40 series detroit which is a 4 cylcle engine. Well really it is a navstar-penske-detroit. It started life as a 466 international, was updated and then became a detroit. It is a very good engine, we have a lot of them out and have very few problems. They are very, very good on fuel. As far as not many being sold and parts hard to find i have to dissasgree. They are not related to a 9190 allis except for the decal. The powershift is a Funk and it is a very good unit. If when you test drive it and shifting is not very smooth, dont write it off, this can be taken care of with a propper calibration procedure. vstk

No it's a 4-cycle engine, about 530 c.i.d I think. 215 h.p. it is. It's the same as a IH or Navistar engine. I think it may be a bigger DT466IJ Should be a good engine. Tractor also has the Funk powershift trans. in it. White also has a version of this tractor with a Cummins in it, 6215 or somethingIJ Ilnh

John, I have leased or owned these tractors since they came out. I leased a 9690 the first year and a 9815 the second year.I leased 5 of them. Now own a 9695 and a 9675. If you ever had a IH with a 466 these are basically the same motor. I understand that penzke bought this motor from Navastar when he bought Detroit.Have not had any motor ,trany or rearend problems with a single one.there are some areas that, I consider weak though and I am orange threw and threw. The A_C always seems to need attention,I dont care that much for the cab layout, but I was use to the big cabs in the 8000 series Allis Chalmers. I had a few electrical problems with the 95 but seem to have them fixed.Overall I think they are a very good tractor, for the money. The powershift is nice the only place they have a jump is between 9th and 10th gear. They run fast on the road 25 to 27 depending wether it has 46 or 42 rears. You should be able to buy that tractor for less then 62000 though in my opinion. Illinois Gleaner

yes, between 9th and 10 th there is a more noticable difference. It can be calibrated such that it is still a somewhat smooth shift. I prefer to run the tractor in the field for several hrs, or we have one of the cleanup guys drive for at least an hour in all gears. I then calibrate repeatedly until i get what i want. There are some off sets that can be tweaked to get a bit better response. Do remember that a shift under load and a shift on the road will always behave a bit different. But to answer your question.......Yes.....9th and 10th can be made a lot better with a little work.......vstk

We have one with a little warr left for about $59thou and a more desirable 9695 which is basically the same but turns much shorter for $58thou. Both have 20.8-42 radials FWA and are off leases and have attractive fincaning.

Not trying to be smart but why would you want a 9670 or 9690 with those Deutz engines in themIJ I have a 9650 and absolutly HATE the engine, the rest of the tractor has been pretty good but that engine is a pice of crap.
