Combines Agco corn head compared to JD head

The Agco Hugger corn header is by far the best corn header on the market. they have the lowest entry angle,I have had a few deere guyes run it and they say it loose less cobbs out the front. Mechanicaly it is very simple, look under it at the gear box drives, they give very little trouble. I have a 92 model and all I ever do to it is fix what I tear up and maintanance.

Ahhh what a feeling!!!! The hugger is a good head as are most heads on the market today. Technology just makes the future better and most heads I know of have very modern technology on them, including in cab adjustable stripper plates, gearbox snapping roll drives, and even poly snouts. I do believe most heads are designed for the color of combine they come on, but it is true the Agco cornhead has the lowest profile head so loosing ears is a minimum if you have every thing set properly. We rarely have a problem with our 8 row hugger, and its a 91 model thats been rebuilt and maintain numerous times. Have put two seals in the gearboxes and other than that just welded rod on the stripper plates and replaced gathering chains and gathering chain sprocket bearings. Never have had to rebuilt any gearbox gears or bearing that I can recall. Anyways good luck with your decision!!!!

Deereblues, They are a nice head. Ihave had one for over 10 years. I had a 8-30 and now I have a 12-30. I think that the 12-30 weighs between 8 and 9 thousand. All I have ever did is drive them, But I wouldnt say they are better then a deere because I have never run one. But I dont know how they could be better. My 2 cents Illinois Gleaner

I ran the two colours (Deere and Gleaner) side-by-side last year, and the Deere has nothing over the Gleaner; - I would deem them pretty equal.

We ran all gleaners converted to sts and still have a hugger we have run on the jd for 3 seasons,the hugger is a great head,totally agree about low profile and ear loss,the gathering chains last 3 times longer than the deeres,we have had some gearbox problems and with the slip clutches underneath slipping off the gear which we fixed with metric bolts slightly larger.We pick real green stem corn a real hard pull for gearboxes.

Keep your Deere heads there wont be enough difference to be picky about. Save the money or spend it on something you need the adapters were about $2000 or so depending on brand. if you don't have poly maybe that is where you could spend the saved money.
