Combines Agco parts are HIGH

I don't know if AGCO parts are generally higher than the rest. I have found huge differences between dealers on some parts. I like the SCH sickle example. You can't find an AGCO dealer to sell them for less than $2. Yet SCH sells them to you and I for $1.20 or so. I think the older an item is or maybe an item that is somewhat non-common, I do think they tend to raise prices. Parts for White planters used to be dirt cheap, now they are astronomical. I can't say that they are better or worse on price than the others. I will say they are the worst at parts supply.

I try to think they arent that bad. But I called my acgo dealer,to price a bushing for my Tye drill. 1.5 x 1.0 with 5_8ths hole in the middle. I figure maybe 3 to 5 dollars. They said 26.00 a piece. That is legalized stealing,I dont care what anyone says. Wether that is a fast moving part or not,26 for that piece isnt even fair. I only need 44 of them. IG

You're right about different prices at dealerships. I checked another dealer and he was $300 less on the same OEM radiator. One at $2040 and the other at $1700. Still the bigger surprise to me was that the Deere radiator for the 8400 was only $950. I have not seen the two radiators side by side, but I doubt the Massey could be that much bigger and better quality than the Deere.

Be very, very careful with this topic IowaDan. Though I fully agree with you, I opened this topic up last year and it turned into everything from a mud-slinging to a "spelling-bee"! (Seems I mispelled a word or two). At one time not too long ago, Deere had the reputation for high parts prices; - now they seem to be one of the more reasonably priced brands. My experience with AGCO parts prices synergizes with the other posts, it pays to shop around.

I think that because Deere is allegedly the best and therefore most popular color, there are more aftermarket suppliers making replacement parts for their tractors, planters, combines, etc. so they are forced to keep OEM prices lower to remain competitive.

Will agree with you on that. Anywhere agco can use a filter that can't be found in the after market they charge 4 x what you would expect to pay. Also they won't let my Agco Gleaner dealer sell Massey Ferguson filters and at the same time they are bent on eliminateing all my MF dealers and making me drive over 240 miles for MF parts.

I went to my dealership today to talk about this price thing and he was surprised also when he checked prices on radiators for other Massey models. My 8160 is a 1998 (radiator $1700). Radiator for a 2007 MF8460 is only $800. Go figure. You're right though about opening up this subject, I wish I hadn't, but sometimes this site can be a little theraputic just by getting to chat with some of you guys.
