Combines AGCO strikes again

Wow. If there isn't more to this story than stated above then I believe AGCO has really missed the boat on this one. I've never heard anything bad about that place and I know they sell a bunch of combines. Seems lots of manufacturers in many industries are trying to reduce the number of dealerships...they tell us it is about costIJ I especially have a hard time believing this is the best thing for AGCO to do. John Deere can do this all they want and not get hurt; what are you gonna do, not drive greenIJ No way, won't happen. AGCO is way too arrogant if they think they can act like John Deere.

In the big picture Gleaner accounts for about 1% of company sales and Massey about 60%,no need to knock Massey.

Maybe in Europe and South America, Not in the US. Roughly 75% of combine production in Hesston is Gleaner, remainder is split between Massey and Challenger. Massey is tremendously important globally for AGCO and the Massey brand should be exceedingly thankful that they were purchased by AGCO, it was a win-win. It needs to be understood where global strengths are. In the NA corn_soybean_wheat belt, AGCO's future must rely on AGCO tractor_Gleaner_Hesston for success. And yes, there will always be a sprinkling of Massey and Challenger.

Keep telling yourself that, you might believe it.There is NO way that massey sells more combines then Gleaner. Agco bought Massey,AllIS GlEANER COMPANY bought Massey because they were dead on arivial. There might be alot of them people across the water buying those little 50 60 hp tractors, but Gleaner has a bigger share of combines then Massey, So dont bring that into the picture,we are talking combines. I am not just refering to your little area,I am talking worldwide. In my little area you couldn,t give away a Gleaner, but there sure seems to be a lot of Massey around. As far as saying that Massey was dead when bought, well before we can even discuss this you are going to have to do little researse and educate yourselve.Have a good day.

You are right, they have become too arrogant. I think it started when they got the new CEO three years ago. I was all AGCO at that time but am now 50% John deere due to their arrogance. They cancelled my Massey dealer so I can drive 100 miles for service and I was already driveing 70 miles for Gleaner service. I have one 2002 R62 left and 3 Massey tractors. Resale value here is the lowest of any brand due to not haveing a dealer, They think the caterpillar dealer is going to fill the void, but that is just not happening. West Brook Ag power was a good source of parts and service for my Gleaner. And yes it is true they were canceled. I talked to them today. Said they even had two new combines sold and those were canceled too.

The way I put it together, back in December 2005 or January 2006 they had a big meeting in las Vegas, Reichenhagen was already at the helm, They made plans that we are still seeing the fall out from today. What upset me the most was they changed the discount structure, took away the volume discount ( we were used to tradeing 2 combines and 2 tractors at a time and getting 3 or 4 % extra discount.) I went to John Deere and bought these units for less than Agco wanted, and when I called my custom Harvestor friend who had been buying 5 new Gleaners every two years for the last 40 years, he told me he had 5 new John Deere on his yard because of it. They even disconnected the phone line number that had allowed us to talk to guys like Kevin Bein or the sales dept head for Massey. They don't want us customers calling them. If any one has a new phone number to get through to them on, put it on here so we can give them an ear full. That meeting in las Vegas gave them a view of the future that is different from what those of us out here working the land have for them.
