Combines Air filter problems

John, A week ain't to bad. But if you want to improve it you may carefully add a second barb to asperator bundle and hook one hose to each. Also bundle may be getting plugged and the only way to clean it is take it off and put it in a pail of water and force some water back and forth threw it with a presure washer. Don't use full pressure or get right up to it with nozzle. You can blow them things out with air pressure until you are blue in the face and not get it. The air cleaner you have will work fine but the larger will be better but you need to do some fine tuning to it also to get it to work right. Check post from middle of May 1998 for some more info. Yes the aspirators on the old N6's worked great. Been having a little trouble since then untill fine tuning a bit. Good luck. Dan

We had a terrible time with plugging air filters this year, not weekly but twice a day!! The wind blew hard during harvest (hard enough that you couldn't see where you were going if going with the wind) Our dealer contacted head quarter and they said they were having lots of troubles with the 72 this year. They are trying to get some sort of dual pre-cleaner made. Sure hope they get it by fall harvest. Us combine drivers are not supposed to get so dirty during the day.

The air cleaner on our R60 kept plugging once a day in soybeans a couple of years ago. We simply cleaned the venturi's in the pre cleaner very well. It was not apparent that they were full of dirt just by casual observation; we had to really look. We also wraped the asperator hoses with duct tape (the steel flexible type) so they wouldn't leak any more. I see that Gleaner as long since changed to rubber hoses. We received these tips from Richard Terrel (KC plant) at a farm show. We haven't plugged our air filter for two full seasons since.Brian
