Combines air flow divertor

I've run one two seasons now in a 1660. Overall, the machine does a good job of cleaning and have reduced returns volume. However, one side effect I experienced with the wind deflector is having grain (mostly corn) run forward off the chaffer and into fan housing. (Trouble with both the combination and long fingered corn chaffer) So, on both chaffers I installed a piece of round baler belting to seal between chaffer and bottom of grain pan. I now have no more fan plugging problems and I think it forces all of the air up through the shoe instead of some of the air escaping through this gap. My challenge now is trying to get my shoe loaded evenly. Good luck!

I have run one of these air diverters on two machines over the past 5 or 6 years. I have had the same problem occasionally filling the fan housing with corn, especially when the maching is on a moderate downward slope. I think it is easier to keep all the grain in the machine and do a clean job with the air speed about as high as it will go. I just traded a 2144 for a 2366 and will install it in the new machine. I may have to try the belting idea to alleviate corn coming off the front of the shoe into the fan. thanks

Please explain where belting is put. Is it between bottom shoe and panIJ Can't see why that would help up front.

I have a 1989 Case-IH 1660. It works well and we are very happy with it. I did lower the spreaders with tremendous results. I was thinking about putting this air diverter in since it has the old style fan (the company says this is actually better) and once in a while it does throw some over. I don't like to throw hardly any over. We don't use it for corn but primarily soys and wheat and dry beans. Is this worth it and does it make a noticable differenceIJ

The belting is simply mounted at the front of the chaffer frame. I bolted angle iron at front and then bolted belting to the angle iron. As you reinstall the chaffer it seals gap between chaffer and grain pan.
