Combines Air Foil Chaffers

We have run the conventional finger style, the fixed air foil, and the adjustable airfoil. My pick of the litter is the adjustable airfoil. However, which style of chaffer is in a red combine is a secondary consideration compared to getting the air flow evened out front-to-rear. Check out the link below. This deflector is the first thing to change, in my opinion, and then you probably will be happy with your current chaffer.

The non-adjustable airfoil is all I run in all the combines I have (7720 JD, 760 MF, 8780 MF along with others I've run 7700, 8820 and R7) does an excellent job in small seeds like grass, alfalfa, canola and cereals. In beans I just about run my air on max on the 7720 and it does a great job. In 30-40 bu_ac beans with a 225 flex im running 4-5 mph and my dockage this year was 1_2% thats with no screens on the combine and not screening into a bin.. just straight from combine to truck to elevator. Their easy to setup to. Thats my experience with them... I dont think you could go wrong with one in soybeans and wheat... and its been about 10+ years since ive done corn so I forget how it was compared to a normal chaffer... if there was a difference i know it wasnt enough to make it worth changing back.. hope this helps, Ed

I have always had good feedback on using an airfoil chaffer. They provide good cleaning, along with low maintainence. Goodluck !!

No you do not need to take out the lower seive when using the air foil just set the lower one like you normally would.

we have a adjustable one in a n-6. works great better than the short finger seive. You run it wide open in most situations. we ran wheat, corn and beans with it. we blew motor in our n-6 and we not going to fix it, so ours is for sale. We paid over 650.00 for it would take 300.00. It wont fit r62 that we bought.

Hey guys, depending on what year the 62's are that you have, the chaffer will fit in a short shoe 62 or 72. I took one out of an N-7 one time and put it in our 95 R-62. The chaffers are the same. If you have a 96 or newer the chaffer will not fit because that is when they went to the long chaffer
