Air reels are not cheep but they are worth every cent you pay for them. If you are trading every year or so you can save money by ordering your heads without the reel and then put on the air reel. I run the Crary Air Finger reel on my fex header. I wouldn't cut soybeans with out it. K.A.

JWK, In short beans the air reel will sure save two to three bpa just by blowing them off the cutter bar and into the header. Even most of the beans that get shelled out by the sickle get blown into the header. In tall beans there is no need to run the reel slightly faster than the ground speed like you do with a regular reel so there is less shaddering by the reel and the air keeps laying the beans down on the auger and just keeps them feeding in much more even. Personally I have sold both the Crary and AWS system. Air Reels are definetly gaining in popularity. My suggestion to you would be to contact the people at AWS. There system is simple, easy to install and remove. They offer system's where the fan mounts on the combine. Which I would think in your case would be a benefit compared to a header mount system. If you have a problem with a header mount fan it puts your entire head out of comission which I would think in your case would not be a good thing.

Crary also offers the same type of system. It is called a CWS. They offer the same drive set-up on the combine. I believe that AWS uses the Crary fan. I priced them out and it appears that the Crary CWS is a little less expensive.
