To answer your question....I would ask what type of crops are you harvestingIJ If it is wheat,beans, and corn....then you are harvesting one of the heaviest crops to separate from the thrash. Many farmers think that when you are seeing grain on the ground they will slow the fan down.....as an old timer has told my dad you need to raise the fan speed to "lIFT" the thrash to allow the grain to fall out of the thrash. So with the Air Jet you will be raising you fan speed to do this. JWK

Yes we are harvesting wheat, beans and corn. We have an airjet in our 2144 and I doubt it was worth the money. Perhaps the 44 doesn't have enough power to challenge the cleaning system. If you crunch the numbers it has more sq. inches of cleaning area per horsepower than the bigger models. Since it hasn't impressed me in the 44 I am reluctant to spend the money on one for the 88 and yet lots of people say great things about them. Therefore I'm trying to get some solid information on whether it will give me more capacity.

What have you found to be less impressive with itIJ I believe the best part is that your returns are next to nothing.....you have to remember that you need to thrash the crop first and separate it next. If you have a rock trap, do you need it for your fieldsIJ I say this because I think you could increase your capacity in small grain and corn.

Yes we have a rock trap and yes we need it. What I'm less than impressed with is that I don't think it gave me any extra capacity or a cleaner sample. I put a new fan drive belt on and run it at 1250 rpm but I still get pods in the bin. Also I get wheat straw and bean straw and pods stuck in the seive elements and need to clean them periodically.

About pods in the tank. Tells me two things. Concave is not set tight enough to thrash out the beans. 2nd, Are the pods green onesIJ If so this is happening more and more with the Roundup Ready beans; they are not all ready to harvest at the same time. I will agree with you that the elements do get stems in it. This would happen with any screen you would use in any application be it grain cleaning, gravel screening or Gold mining. HA HA. Another item I think of is this. When you are harvesting wheat_beans, I believe that feeding is an important factor with thrashing the crop on an even basis. So with that in mind, a grain header with full finger auger will improve this feeding. I know that when you see those bunches coming to the middle of the header you will just automatically pull back on the hydro because it may just slug in the feeder or the rock trap. And another item do you have an "smooth slotted" grates for wheat harvestIJ this could reduce stems. Feel free to comment more....we can learn more with this website.....JWK

Does it give a clean bean sample thoughIJ I imagine cleaning the elements can be a pain but if its at least a clean sample all is not lost.

She already told me.
