Randy, I can suggest that in corn if the size of the corn is "large" you will want the "High Capacity" elements. Here in Minnesota I used the AirJet Chaffer in 2002 and set the cleaning fan to about 1270 RPM ( Paddle fan). Have a good harvest. JWK

Are you running a clean grain sieveIJ We have run corn with only an air foil chaffer and wonder if the clean grain sieve could be left out with Marvin's new chaffer.

Dave, I think you need to leave the shoe sieve in to help the air distribution with the AirJet for the best performance. Set it at 11_16th open. I had excessive returns and cracking, harvesting high yielding corn with airfoil sieve in a speciality rotor combine Randy

JUST USED AIRJET CHAFFER IN DRY PEAS AND BARlEY. I HAVE THE FlOW DEFlECTOR INSTAllED. WORKS BEAUTIFUllY. DON'T TAKE THE SEIVE OUT FOR REASONS OF BAlANCE. JUST OPEN IT UP AND USE lOT OF AIR. ONlY NEGATIVE COMMENT I HAVE IS PEAS GET STUCK IN THE AIR SlOTS AND YOU HAVE TO ClEAN THEM OUT ONCE IN A WHIlE.

Thanks for the info! I always figured the deflector and the AirJet chaffer would work well together, but you're the first person I've heard of who's tried it. Seems like if they work well in barley they would work well in most crops. How clean of a sample could you getIJ

Which part of the chaffer is getting peas in the AirJetsIJ I suggest that you not open the sieve all the way open as that will direct the air away from the AirJets. Set the lower sieve between 5_8 and 11_16ths of an inch open for the most direct blast from the cleaning fan to the AirJets. Adjust the cross-flow cleaning fan to at least 1250 r.p.m. Paddle fans should be set to at least 1050 r.p.m. in peas. These settings will tend to even out the air-flow. I have not used the air deflector. I am concerned that the air deflector may direct the air away from at least some of the AirJets, which could starve them of air, and allow peas to get stuck in the openings. In a stock configuration, there should be enough air passing through the AirJets to keep peas from getting stuck. You must get more air to get the best performance from the AirJet chaffer. First, set the stop nuts on the threaded adjusting rod so that the clevis arms of the variable speed drive sheave are about 1_16th of an inch from toughing the edge of the outer drive sheave. Second, run the fan speed up until you get 1250 r.p.m. under load. If you still can't get that high of r.p.m., make sure your engine speed is at the book spec.
