The 4w-220 was an upgraded 7580 with a much better drive line, cab and other items. Many have been repowered to 280-300 hp . The 426 is about at its max at 200 PTO. No major flaws except at a base wt of over 18,000n then add duals and fluid and at 20,000n it was not very 'peppy'. Worked well with field cult's on duals for spring work drying out fields. Many common parts except eng w_4w-305

Whole tractor was very good to us. leave the engine at rated HP (I believe it was 180 PTO HP),don't add a bunch of liquid or weights, and treat it right. It's a very small 4WD and that zooped up 426 likes to be treated as such. It is basically the same engine as '82 or newer N6 R6s. '81 and prior N6s as well as 7580s had that 426 reving a couple hundred extra RPM which wasn't a good idea for the guys that could wait for them to warm up ect. ect.
