Combines Altenator question

Greedy Guts; The more accessories added, the higher capacity alternator that is needed. 55 amp is small. 100 plus is better as it has to work much less to maintain desired output and won't self distruct from heat like the 55 amp. Go for it.

As long as both are 12 volts, you're fine. Don't mix voltages.

Depends what the largest alternator option avalible for that tractor. The wiring harness should be up to handling whatever alternator the tractor could have as an option. I saw an older deere (4430) that worked fine with a 72 amp alternator, but went totally bonkers with a 105 amp unit fitted to it. There was so much voltage drop in the too light wiring harness that the alternator voltage would surge several volts very quickly, making the headlights flicker bright_dim. I would be very afraid of a wiring overheat_burnup with a deal like that.

Cheers lads I put it on the tractor with extra wires to the cab supply and back to the starter_battery. It took a bit more fitting than I thought but works fine with a new voltage regulator. And I have a spare I can take off and put on my combine.
