I really don't think some people believe this, but I have actually seen a J.D. 8820 with 9500 hours. I was told by its owner, a custom harvester, that he kept the machine until about 12,000 hours, then sold it. I do know this combine was very carefully rebuuilt and repaired throughout its life from day 1, so that was most likely the main reason for its longevity. Perhaps, also, it just happened to be out of a high-quality batch of material and was not built on a Monday after a holiday.
