Combines Another 8550 AC Problem

It sounds like what is called a "drooling nozzle" and that will cause in a short amount of time more piston problems if not fixed. When I bought my 8050 the previous owner had that problem and didn't fix it and it burned a large scar in the piston wall. He paid for most of the overhaul on my 8050 when I bought it from the dealer I paid to finish the OH up totally as it was a JD dealer. I have also had the 649I on my 7020 with those symtoms and that was the problem. I hope it is no deeper than the nozzles yet, that will cause the smoke and miss, because the fuel is not being atomized properly by one or more nozzles, aka drooling or streaming at the piston wall. The stream on the piston wall will kill rings and burn holes through the sleeves.

Also check copper injector gaskets on front three injectors. Remember these are under the valve cover and can draw in oil on intake stroke and leak compression on exhaust stroke. Hope this helps. eddie

TStar, With engine running at an idle, loosen injection line at injector and see if you notice that when you loosen the line and fuel stops going into injector, there should be a definite miss in engine Start at No.n1 injector and work your way back to No.n3(Since the miss is from the front exhaust.)If you find a hole that really doesn't change the sound of the engine,(Smoke may disappear or get lighter.) this is usually the problem hole.Remove that injector and have it checked,if you don't find anything, have a compression check run to varify the problem is deeper. Good luck and let us know what you find, Hyper Harvest II
