Combines Another fine deere idea fuel bleedback

Have you ever tried replacing the fuel check valves that hold the fuel up in the filtersIJ Small particles can get under the valves and cause a very slow leakdown. Also, when it does drop the fuel, turn the key on so the electric pump runs, then use the PRIMER pump on the side of the injetion pump. The little electric transfer pump was never ment to prime a fuel system by itself.

Deere has a retrofit for this problem. It deals with changing the fuel return line so it enters the bottom of the fuel tank instead of the top of the fuel tank where it can suck air back into the system. Apparently only certain machines had this problem as we have had to do this to one of our combines.

Joe No, I've never checked these valves your referring to. Where are they exactly again in relation to the fuel filterIJ I've never asked a deere tech about this deal so this is the first I've heard of it. As for climbing up and hand pumping the primer on the injection pump as the electric one is hammering away.........To hades with that!! The entire point of trying to fix this is so I quit having to climb up in that engine compartment. I park that combine so close to the wall of the quonsett that sometime I play hell just trying to get up there so I can work because I can't always get the door swung over enough to even drop the ladder........it's the only way I can make everything fit in the shed. Just for imformatives sake........how much work was involved doing this and how much did the kit costIJ I'd think that they could still enter from the top but just drop a hose down into the tank that would clear the bottom by say 2 inches. Usually noone runs them that low when parking after harvest and that would be high enough to not pick up any settlement's in the bottom of the tank when the system was bleeding back. Deerebines

I have always been in the habit or starting my machines during the winter every 2 weeks or so, let them get hot, 20 mins, then shut them off. I feel much better running them a few times then letting them sit all winter.. That first startup after 3 months isnt always good on them.. I have spent too much money to let it go to hell.. Joe
