Combines Another great Gleaner dealer gone

I don't understand what you mean by AGCO's "transitional crap" a friend of mine owns part share of an Agco dealer in Sask. and he is quite pleased with Agco. Just off topic but how close are you to Sterling ON I have some friends who farm close to there.

Stirling, Ontario is about a 4 hour drive to the east of where I live; - nice country. What I meant by AGCO's "transitional crap" was the period of time in which Allis Chalmers became Duetz-Allis, then AGCO-Allis. It seemed that the dealer network were often left in limbo, not knowing what products they were going to have to sell from one year to the next. I believe AGCO has there act together now'; - it's just a shame to see a dealer of over 45 years (like Wilkersons) go out of business after all that time.

Where is your closest dealer nowIJ For awhile I had the same gripe and suffered the same fate here in Eastern Ontario. It seemed that over the last 5 years the closest knowledgeable dealer on combines was Shantz. I still like them for parts but now have DanR Equipment in Winchester.

I live about 40 mins from stirling. its real nice country.lots of hills. I live in napanee and the closest dealer i have is 30 mins away in bellivelle called hawleys garage.

does any one here live near stoltz in elmira. if so can you check out the gleaner f2 there.thanks

Saw that one a while ago--it's been sitting there 2 or 3 years--what I remember, unloading auger looks tough, no chopper, tires fair at best, corn head is fair, did not see grain head, pretty sure after setting that long the A_C won't work, can't verify that the hours represent the condition of the machine. My closest knowledgable Gleaner dealer is either Hyde Brothers in Hensall or Ron Shantz in Alma; - they're the only 2 long-standing Gleaner dealers left. Shantz is terrific for not only sourcing aftermarket parts, but has a sizable wrecking yard as well.

I agree 100%, it certainly is a huge loss, John is a great Gleaner guy, he knows them inside and out, even over the phone he could help you out, John is such a wizz when it comes to combines and heads, he made our 800 flex head work amazing and we can cut beans as shaved as any Deere or IH around, i am going to miss him. Thanks John and hope all goes well for you in the future.

What is John going to do nowIJ Does he even knowIJ John was a great guy and very knowledgable on Gleaners. I used to support the Gleaner dealers on Ont. for farmer meetings and anything else that may be helpful. I am sorry to see him go. Maybe he'll keep working on Machines on his own. I was talking with another farmer who knows John very well. He said that John hit 60 this year so I think it's a matter where John probably quit AGCO; - not the other way around. I believe he's doing a little service work for DandS Downham Equipment in Innerkip, but I'm not sure.
