Cant comment on capacity of the R-50 as I have never ran one but the 62 was way better than our old N6 and much easier to work on and do daily maintenence, much better engeneering. We ran our first 62 a 94 model with the 260hp with a neighbor and his R-70 in wheat they were side by side. The deutz engines were good engines from my memory not having used on but keeping the engine ClEAN was very important. these engines were easy to adjust power on to get a bit extra capacity. Hope this helps

Take the R62! I went from an R50 ...which are good machines, to a '98 R62 and the latter is about twice the machine. The wider feeder house on the 62 is more forgiving than on the 50. You will have a Duetz engine either way which are OK if you maintain them and keep them clean. I would say you would have less trouble with the one on the 62 as it may not be working as hard as the 50 will be. The cab is also nicer and with a lot more room on the 62 vs the 50. Eventual trade-in value will be better for the 62. Now, I guess it just comes down to how the previous owners used them. If the 62 was used rough and not in good shape and the 50 was a cherry, I would rethink my reccomendation.
