Combines Any 8010s burn in the shed While I was goneIJ

The pathetic side of this whole thing to me is the red company has a great machine that everyone agrees is and has always been great. They sorely need to update the thing, not dump it. Kinze should do one just to show everyone what it would look like to have a 2388 with a 4 or 500 bu. grain tank with a 24" unloading auger with throughput capacity of at least 4000 bu._hour. This could be done, it already has a big enough rotor and seives. Might have to put in a cat motor for power, though. I for one think the idea of one manufacturer left standing is going to be detrimental to the farmers financial health. GS

What have you been smokingIJ The 23 is maxed in almost every area. 500 bu. grain tankIJ 24" unload augerIJ Now that's funny but the cat motor for power has me rotfl.

Put a clean grain elevator from a 9860 on it, add about 150 hp, strengthen the frame struts and stretch the grain tank, stick a huge unloading auger in there and there you go. Those who think anything is "maxed out" have blinders on. They would be the engineers at binderland. I picked the 24" auger size just because it is a lot bigger than the deere. Might as well give them something to shoot at. I imagine what will happen is the 23 series will be just discontinued. I don't smoke at all. GS

What about the final drives, the drive axle, the rear axle, the rotor drive, the rotor belt,etc.etc.etc. If you hung a 24" auger on the side of the 23 on a hill it would probable tip over. It doen't take a rocket scientist to figure out the 23,while still a very good combine, is maxed out and any major improvements have already been done. The 23 has some inherent limitations from it's intial design. These limitations can not be addressed by simple slapping on this and that to improve capacity. I'm not knocking the original IH engineers. Their foresight has seen at least 4 major jd designs in it's lifetime.

Hmm, you have no faith in human ingenuity. If noone would try anything new, we would all own deeres. Finals do not seem to have problems and I know of some guys who have some whopper toppers and are already close to the large numbers I speak of. The rear axle should have a moveable wishbone for oscillation stablity so the imbecelic side draw bolts would not have to pull the rear axle fore and aft like they do now (need this anyhow). larger auger tipping over the machineIJ lOl. rotor belt and drive setup just need to be bigger. All this does not take a real brain to see either. The problem is the original design was a very excellent one. It just needs to be updated. If I can dream this up why can't anyone elseIJ GS

greenstrat I really like your thinking. Would you be willing to visit with me off the forum via emailIJ I have posted my address above. I have made a few small modifications to my 1680 to improve its capacity and I too feel that all new has to come from somewhere.
