The round bar concaves won't do any good in wheat. But since your boss has so much money to afford 4 combines, a new concave for an STS shouldn't matter on the budget.

Dakota, You have to give Deere credit for something. In that email I sent you I forgot to tell you that at the convention last week Deere gave away a couple hundred watering cans. I wonder if that had any thing to do with the rain we got in Kansas the last few days. My wife won one of them. looks reel nice beside my red combines! You can get by for 500 acres with concave inserts for the round bar,sample wont be the cleanest,get extra quick attach kits for inserts and try moving them between 1st and second concave as the return dumps above the second and needs re thrashed,leave one inthe very front,I think this will work for what you need.I have run sts for 4 years,some advice from guys that run them one season and didnt learn how to set take with apinch of salt.

Thank you Greengo I was just askin for advice, not a rash about how my boss is smart and gutsty enough to take on a big farm.And how he must be rich if he has four combines, on the contrary we are big penney pinchers, we have to be to be succesfull. I will get some cover plates from the dealer and install them as your EXPERIENCE has worked. Thank you. One more question if ya are still around, what does the straw look like behind an STS if we do decide to bale some for the sheepIJ thanks again

Why not just use the 9600'sIJ You know what they will do, instead of hoping that the sts works. As far as sts being more up to date, I wish i had a 9000 series combine instead of the ol' 7720 lOl.. Do it the cheap way..Use the older ones that you know work. Just my $.02 worth Chad

We have baled straw after the sts and they had good bales with round baler,they put out lots of straw unlike other rotors we had in the past.
