As far as I could tell, the 9600 and 9610 are identical internally. I could be wrong, but I think that is the case. I do believe that the 9610 has more horsepower, so that may be the factor improving capacity.

10 series has the 13 bar concave, which can be retrofited to the 00 series, and that concave is better. the 10 series also has the 8.1 motor, which is an advantage i believe

I dont know how much truth there is to this but i was told at one time they were having problems with the sheet metal being too thin on the sides of the combine... apparently thats one thing they fixed on the 9610

Stronger Feeder house upper shaft, bigger engine, air ride seat, more accurate cylinder settings. Other things maybe different but not sure; better cleaning fan, chaffer and sieve setting control, fold down loading auger, hand holds on cab for holding onto when cleaning windows, better sheilding on sides of combine to keeping chaff out, three speed engine switch settings, more lights as standard equip. There are many options that can be added to older 9600's that are standard on the 9610, the dealers have a brochure.

The shoe has been speeded up and has a tendancy to make them come apart.

I have 2 1997 9600 with most of the options with most of the standard options of the 9610 and I would not trade them for one. I heard that they added more horsepower but didn't beef anything else up. I knew a guy who had a 9610 and his was not very reliable. Just my 2cents.

I have not seen the 10 or 9600 yet but I think the 10 sounds nice.

I used to own a 9600 and currently own a 9610 and will say the the "10" is just that much better of a machine.I would definitely buy the 9610 if I had the choice.
