I would like to see you run the rice spikes next to the standard so that we could find out what the difference is! I would think that rotor loss would be lower with the spikes, but more HP will probably also be required and I doubt you need the extra separation in beans. I've wondered about using some rice spike bars in wheat, but have not heard anyone say they like them, other than in Rice where they are standard equipment. You could also consider eventually going with half standard and and half spiked on each machine to keep them identical. If you do corn, I would think the spikes would be a bad idea.

The spiked bars that are talked about, are they the ones that are long and about 3" wide over the grate areaIJ If so I have them in my 1660 and I have noticed that they help to put out the straw faster and not chewed up as much. Jack

I had to end up buyng a new rotor yesterday too many dents in my old one to repair. I would like to thank Marvin Gordon for his help and advice on the phone yesterday, although his advice was great the extent of damage to the rotot was too great so I got a re-man from Kanas. As a little side not if you need a rotor balanced contact Richard's Electric in Quincy Ill they will balance a rotor or John Deere Chopper for $250.00. Since the Rock Island plant has gone defunct they have really taking off on doing this.
