Combines Anybody ever got the fungus from corn dust and oldest combine driver

Don't know about the fungus. I know of a guy who is 82 and puts in a day or two of harvest every year on an old IH with no cab (he doesn't like cabs). His kids hope that he will quit, but he just can't resist helping out at harvest. Feels like he's helping out.

My 72 year old father will not let anyone else run the combine. This year we traded machines to one with a nice, modern cab. The first day we cut he got out of the truck in shorts. My brothers and I laughed and he responded that he had worked his whole life for a machine like this, and he was going to be comfortable! He cut all our wheat wearing shorts .......

Hi; Dad ran our R52 when he was 84 and was spreading dry fertilizer the next spring.

Yes I've had the flu like symptoms as a result of this fungus. Didn't go to the doctor and got over it. Sounds like he had a very bad case of it, hope he recovers.My uncle is 74 and is the only one that will run the F2. It has no a_c and the fan in the cab doesn't work. He runs it with the door and window open! 10 years ago he fell out of a grain bin and broke his hip. Took 2 years to heal. Still he ran the F2. We would lift him up in the cab and take away his crutches or put them at the other side of the field and tell him when he got to the other side he could have them back and go home. He didn't miss a day's running

I HAVE FlU lIKE symtoms also, from running a 98 R-62 @5MPH HARVESTING corn yielding 90-135bu_ acre in NW ohio.

my dad is 64 and runs his N6 some times he will even drive one of my R72. His dad was 95 when he drove the C2 for the last time. He died in 1996 two wks before the start of that harvet yr. I started driving the C2 when I was 10 yrs old. My first combine was a N5 had it for a yr then two R7's and finly my 2 2001 R72's colin

have a rash around my lower legs when i start pulling corn in south texas, know breathing problems. am 60(not that old) and I run a lexon 460 tradeing for a 475. love the harvest beening doing it for 20 years. use to run 7 l2 and then 6 n6's and that was enought gleaner for me. have been running jd till i got the CAT
