We switch from Gleaner_AC products in the late 70's to JD and have been very happy, no regrets! In fact most everyone around here has switch from AC to JD. Didnt take too long either after we got our new 6600 combine home.

I can't comment on all Agco equipment, but I do know that I have always been offered good resale on my Massey equip. when I have looked at buying something from Deere or Case. Now on the other side I have friends that want to get into Massey combines and they can't get enough for their green paint on trade the Case_NH guys seem to be able to trade to Massey and are...And I have also noticed that used deere combine values have been declining, is that from Deere always making changes to their combine line every year. flooding the used market with near new paintIJ So I have to think that the resale myth is just that "a myth". I bought a 1996 deere 5400 tractor with deere 540 loader this past summer, cheapest tractor i could find other than a Belarous(sp) and I'm starting to see why...just my luck finally get some green and it is a lemon

AGCO has some decent well designed equipment, however their dealer network is in a shambles. My local Deere dealer does most of my off season work on my Gleaner combine(last piece of AGCo equipment besides my Sunflower ripper which is about 2 weeks from heading down the road for a DMI). We have real nice AGCO dealer locally, but parts availability can be sketchy. If you go on the Gleaner board they brag about driving 200 miles for parts and service. I like the Gleaner design as well, but resale is very poor on a competitors lot. In general AGCO's resale on Combines and Sunflower equip is decent, but planter and tractor resale is marginal. The Green resale on planters isn't much to brag about. but you can buy 10year old AGCO FWA tractors all day long for 25-35K and most 55 series tractors still bring that or more.

I have never heard of anyone on the other page brag about having to drive for service,it seems to me they are just dedicated to their brand of machinery just as many are dedicated to John Deere.

lightning, your problem was your dealer, not AGCO. like I said on the Gleaner site, you could have gone to North Star and gotten any help you needed but it seems you would rather come here and complain. JJ

I asked North Star for help. They said no because they didn't sell me the combine. North Star wanted me to trade for a new combine. I said I want my R65 to work right before I would ever trade for another gleaner. I bought my first Agco tractor from North Star which I had no problems with North Star other than I had farther to drive to get to there dealership.
