There are still quite a few old gleaners sitting around here in North East Montana. Most of the ones that had Ford motors no longer have the motor as Model A owners have taken them off for use in their old cars. I still have one that my Dad bought new in 1942. It has the Hercules 4 cyl. motor. My father-in-law has one of the self-propelled ones that were built around a Fordson tractor. His Dad and Uncle bought it new in 1927.

That is interesting I have heard that those old ford engines were long lasting. I sure would like to find a little Gleaner six or any of the pulltypes somewere close to me I would like to have one.

Along those lines: last year, a JD dealer in western PA had listed in his ad a Gleaner P-80 pull-type combine, shedded and in running order, for $1800. And he sold it! The P-80 was the last pull-type Gleaner, around 1955, I think. A-C took over Gleaner during the one year it was produced, and dropped the P-80 after only a few hundred were built in favor of the All-Crop combines. So the P-80s are rare. How and when that one got to western PA, I'd love to know.

That is an outstanding price for a machine that old. There must be some value to them.
