Tom, Sounds like lots of poor diesel fuel went thru' the system this fall. I was at a truck dealer on this past monday, (a cold one) and they said they had sold over 30 cases of treatment that morning, and about that many fuel filters. This is from SD, where they don't have ground up beans in the tank. We've been running n2 with Power Service all fall, and with the PS, we haven't had any trouble, as of yet :) Friend_neighbor who runs a long milk truck route everyday says there's lots of trouble out on the road, and they blame it on the bad n2, not the beans. Stay warm

Tom its not the soy oil it was empty supply tanks,if I remember right you said the ethanol was giving you problems also. I think you need a better filter on your supply tank and maybe blend your fuel in winter I am on my 2nd transport with no problems, one filter for every 7800 gals, I can live with that, and it is just as cold at litchfeild as Cokatoe.

You have a good memory. Ethanol is a great fuel in vehicles that get enough miles on them. My problem with ethanol is in old collector cars and farm trucks that we seldom drive on the road. We have the same problems with ethanol if we keep fuel tanks full or nearly empty. Some folks have good luck with stabilizer but it did more harm than good for us when gasoline sits in the tank longer than a few months. We didnt do ourselves any favors by rushing soy diesel on the market in September. We should have waited for next spring to allow folks to change filters a couple of times before cold weather set in. But no, those in positions of power decided to rush into it and cause all sorts of backlash from unhappy consumers. Delaying the cut-in date by 2 weeks only made matters worse; delaying it for 6 months would have been better. Maybe you like changing filters in cold weather; I sure dont.

One would wonder what all got mixed in some of these tanks. Friend called me up to look at one of his snowmobiles, as it wasn't idling_running right. A few days later when I made it over there, it wouldn't start. Messed with this and that, no luck. He called me 30 minutes after I left, that the other one wouldn't start. Hmmm.. He had just picked up some gas from a busy pump a few days before. Drained tanks, etc., bought different gas and everything works just fine. It seems funny that guys that have never had any trouble with diesel fuel are having trouble this year.

A week ago Monday I left NW Iowa at 3:30 AM and minus 2 degrees with a B5 soydiesel blend in my tank. As I drove across Central Iowa the temps kept dropping to -16 degrees by Waterloo, IA and the B5 was running through just fine. I needed fuel so I stopped at Independence at a Phillips 66 station. I asked attendant about what was in the tanks and she assured me it was a "winter blend". It didn't pump into my truck very well at first then took off. Well, I made it about 20 miles to Manchester and truck gelled up. Ended up with a 4.5 hour delay in schedule due to unavailable tow truck due to bad accident on Hwy 20, but that situation made my problem pretty insignificant. I did contact the Phillips 66 station manager yesterday and pinned him down about the so-called "winter-blend" and please take note.......He said they use a "Z-1" additive that insures flowability to only 0 degrees. All bets are off below zero. I asked him about properly informing customers of this information to which he had no reply. Furthermore, I asked if his pump filters had been changed and he said no. All in all, it was an OK experience except for the $145 tuition for the towing and new fuel filter at the FORD dealer :-( Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Carry Power Service additive and put in before refueling, when buying fuel on the road.Ran straight n2 premium in my tractors at -19 and they ran fine with Power Service.Supposed to be good to -35.
