We ran a R42 with a 24' hdr in 1993 it did great and was the nicest most comforatble machine I ever ran. the only problem we had was driving it to the truck to dump so much.
That is precisely the reason I have an R60 when a smaller machine would be more than adequate. I can easily make 1_4 mile rounds with a 6-row corn head. Tom in MN
I may be mistaken on this but I beleive John Deere also make a Class 4 machine 9450 and not only Gleaner or at least I have always been told the second number is the class size 9450 Class 4 9550 Class 5 9650 Class 6 9750 Class 7 please correct me if I am incorrect!!!!!!!

My neighbour bought an R42 two years ago and has been successfully pushing a 25' flex in 35 to 40 bushel beans since then. He isn't breaking any sound barriers at 2.5 mph, but he's leaving a clean field and producing a clean sample!
You are correct. AGCOfan is wrong. On a factory tour is was explained that Combine Class size is basically three factors. HP, Grain Tank size, and overall capacity. The HP is usually a range. Same for hopper capacity. Overall capacity is more definite in the corn belt. 6 row head for class 4 and 5. 8 row head for class 6. 12 row head for class 7.
