JD, The reason why they are doing that is because the companies' are losing their A$$es on these lease return tractors. NH started this with these super-cheap leases in the South. Everyone else had to follow. The problem is that all other regions have to pay because these Southern tractors are really abused. So, now it's back to reality for a "right" lease price. Thank New Holland for getting you CHEAP leases, but I think the time is definately over.

You may very well be right but, on my last lease of an 8970, Deere couldn't get within $3000.00 of the NH price. Now Deere has a "brand new" model out and now their lease is line with the NH's from 3 years agoIJIJIJIJ NH has never been inline with Deere on tractors around 100hp as far as a lease goes in my area. I was wondering if it had something to do with the "new" line coming out soon from NHIJ Sucks is the best word that comes to my mind!

I'm in the same situation as you are, only with 8870's. Started out 6 years ago with a new Genesis 8870 with a 600hr._yr. lease for around $11500 per year, now NHC wants over $20000 for the same deal. If you look, New Holland has dropped the residual on the new tractors by $20000 from where they started out in the program 6 years ago. This does not make any sense because the resale value of the Genesis is just as good or better as the green or red tractors. Ilooked at Deere and there lease for the 8210 is about $2200 less than the NH. So, I thought Iwould release the present tractor for another 3 years. Guess what, the cost of this lease went from $13000 in Dec. 2001 to over $20000 in Jan.2002. We have had nothing but Ford_NH tractors on this farm for 60 years, but with this kind of BS, I think that I will have to look at different colors.

Maybe Buhler would be easier to get a good price out of than NH. I think the only difference is the color.

Maybe I dont understand why you have to lease but would it not be cheaper to buy a new tractor or the one you was leasingIJ

What I am trying to do is to get the use of the tractor for the cheapest $$ per year and leasing has been the way to go. I don't really care to own the tractor, just want to be able to use the tractor to get the job done and not have to worry about repairs for a tractor that has a 3 year warranty coverage. leasing has certain tax advantages and in our area where houses are popping up everywhere, if I lose some land and don't need this big of a tractor anymore at the end of the lease, I can just turn the tractor back to NH. Also I wonder how all the electronic computers and sensors on these tractors will hold up when they are 6-8 year old tractors. That's why I like to stay with a newer tractor.

Hey Blackie, Talked to my dealer again Friday. Dealers can order the "new" tractor starting in June. Don't know what the "new" tractor is yet. Anyway, he will let me know by this Wed. if the lease program on the "new" tractor will be more in line. If it is, I can rent my 8970 till delivery on the "new" one and the dealership will carry the tractor as far as warranty goes until delivery. I'll let ya know, JD

JD, Ended up releasing my present 8870 through my dealer for about the same money as I had with NH Credit. Dealer wanted to keep me as a customer. I got the extended warranty too for $2000 for the next 3 years. Talked to a guy from NH at louisville and he said the new TG series will be available sometime in the fall. He said new tractor will have Cummins engine instead of Genesis engine, super-steer and Case trans. but with alot of the same shifting features as the Genesis. I liked the Genesis engine, but they may have maxed the hp. out of it with the displacement that it has.
