The auction was ended early. On the webpage, it said it was ended early because of an error in the listing. Somebody made a mistake.

I think they just left off a 0.The seller ended the sale because of an error. The description doesen't say any thing about gift wrapping and I believe it is a dealers tractor so it is common for them to ship. The attachment at the bottom about gift wrapping is used for their other auctions. The seller has 100% positive feedback and money orders and cashiers checks are accepted, nothing said about western union or registering to bid. Do a dealer search for Dickson Tn. the name should be Baker Equipment and call and ask if it is their tractor. The nickname for the seller sounds like it may be one of their wifes that is registered on ebay.

It sure is funny how stories get started because someone simply left off a 0.

I assumed those things too, then I emailed the listing person to be able to bid on it. Then she told me that the tractor was located in the Netherlands and that all I had to do was send the buy it now price via western union to my wife at her address in the Netherlands. They would ship it over to me and if I didn't like it, I could send it back on their dime. I did some Google searching and found out that scams like this have been going on in other industries. They place the ad on ebay, pull it, start a dialog and get you to send $ in an unprotected medium instead of going through ebay. I just thought other guys might want a heads up on the situation. The persons profile was prossibly highjacked through another popular ebay scam. you get an official looking email that seems to be from ebay asking for your name and password. They change the password and use your good rating to seem like they are on the up and up. She couldn't provide a serial n even though I asked several times. Fishy.

Anyone willing to do a little experimentIJ contact the seller, ask some very specific questions -see if they are answered. I am willing to bet that you get an email back telling you that she is in the Netherlands and so is the tractor. All you have to do is send your wife the buy it now price via Western Union (this is not a secure practice, anyone can claim the $) and then they will ship you the tractor. They will say that you will have 3 days to check it out and if you don't like it, just send it back to them on thier tab. I'm not trying to dog anyone, just to give honest farmers the heads up on somebody that is trying to put the scam on them. CNN had an article about 50 people getting busted in the Netherlands for pulling ebay scams last week. They highjack somebody's screen name with good customer feedback and then use it as their own. I wonder if this is a variation.... Would somebody please contact that seller and see if you get the same uneasy feeling as i did. If you don't, then buy the tractor. Once you have it, I'll buy it from you - you could double your $!

It more than likely is a scam. It has become very usual to see deals like that on bigger equipment.like other posters have said the person and item will be from a different country, you just send money through western union and then they will deliver it for free. I has seen and participated in many of these type auctions, but never have sent money. Most items you can use a little common sense and figure if there real or not. Most the time delivery would cost more than the item. If it sounds to good to be true it probaly is.

ebay is full of those scammers...they steal id's from people that have sold on ebay and use them to post their phoney ads...there are lots of them with cars and motorcyles as well...the seller is always in Europe and they always want you to use Western Union for the money transfer. Ebay is very aware of them but there is so much of it that they can't keep up....I heard of one guy locally that lost $40K..he thought he was buying a BMW from a German dealer...he transferred the money and never heard another thing..
