I've been using loewen(spIJ)replacement augers and hardened sprockets from Sloan. The augers have an extra thick (doubled) edge that holds up well. I have been well pleased with them. I have been really curious about the plastic covering (wear shoes) on the augers. I almost tried them this year, but elected to replace the augers. There were too many unknowns about the wear shoes and I could not find anyone who could relieve my concerns, or answer my questions satisfactorily. I worried about balance of the auger. Would trash, dirt etc be able to get between the plastic and the augerIJ Would they stay on. I elected not to try them, but I still think they are a good idea, and would like to hear from someone who has used them for a while. I also elected not to use the plastic paddle clean grain chain. I have heard that they break off. I have never had to replace rubber paddles before a chain was worn out so I didn't see the need for the plastic paddles. Wouldn't the plastic paddles bang around more in the elevator housing and be noisier tooIJ Personally I'm not sure a bristle auger would last very long in the bed of the grain tank. Just my thoughts and opinions. BH
